According to Sky Sports News, Newcastle United are interested in a potential £6m deal for Real Salt Lake attacker Jefferson Savarino.

The 22-year-old, who is currently with the Venezuela squad at the 2019 Copa America, has scored three MLS goals this season.

West Ham United have also been credited with an interest in the South American, who is reportedly available for £6m.

It is still unclear whether Rafael Benitez will be manager of the Magpies entering the 2019-20 campaign given his contract is due to expire in less than a fortnight, with no update on a potential extension.

To be honest, it has been a strange few weeks for the club. Newcastle, however, cannot afford to dwell in the transfer market as a number of teams are currently picking up bargain deals.

Whether a move for Savarino actually transpires remains to be seen but it is certainly one to keep an eye on.

It’s not hard to argue that Kieran Trippier has been woeful throughout most of the 2018/19 season, and the fans would likely tell you it’s a good time for Spurs to offload him now.

After his abysmal season, it wouldn’t come as too much of a shock if there was little interest in the former Burnley assist-machine. However, that hasn’t been the case, and now ‘The Bury Beckham’ as he was dubbed after his 2018 World Cup heroics, could be set to sign for Juventus for a fee of £25 million, according to The Telegraph.

It might be true that £25 million doesn’t get you very far anymore in today’s market, but where else will you find a club willing to splash that sort of money on a 28-year-old defender coming off of his worst season in recent memory that ended in being dropped by England for the UEFA Nations League, BBC.

We don’t yet know what will happen with Serge Aurier at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but let’s deal with one calamitous right-back at a time and stick to Trippier, who almost certainly has to go. Full-backs will need to be brought into North London, and with the money coming in from Trippier’s potential Juve exit it will be a lot easier to splash on a new right-sided defender.

If you need proof of how poor he has been for the Lilywhites this season you need only look to his horror moments against Chelsea, Crystal Palace and even Ajax in that famous win when he cost the Lilywhites big moments. It also hasn’t helped that the defender, after chipping in nine assists in the 2017/18 campaign, managed to make four less as his form has taken a massive hit.

If they can command such a fee, it’s time to sell up.

Pedro Chirivella is still very much a Liverpool player, despite featuring in just one Premier League match in four years with the club.

The 22-year-old midfielder was really close to exiting the club in January, but late admission of documentation prolonged his stay at Anfield for at least half a season, as he spoke about to AS back in March.

But Extremadura, his supposed destination, are reportedly still keen on him joining the club this summer and we could yet see this soap opera come to a close.

Alvaro Fernandez, a Monaco youngster who is playing his football on loan at Extremadura, just had one word for the Liverpool youngster , describing his holiday snap as “brutal”.

The 22-year-old Spanish midfielder played only five games in all competitions for the senior Merseyside squad and a total of 49 for their U-23 team, scoring once and assisting five in the process.

But it seems very likely that his future lies away from Anfield.

Aston Villa’s football last season was built on the foundation of hard workers and a reliable attitude.

Therefore, to see a player who arrived in England with apparent attitude problems help his team achieve promotion was rather remarkable.

Anwar El Ghazi was the hero at Wembley, overcoming a rather inconsistent middle part of the season where he frustrated, to issue a sincere reminder of the supreme talent he has in the play-off final.

He popped up with a header at the back post, bundling the ball into the back of the net for a goal rather untypical of the Dutchman.

El Ghazi was the flashy loan addition of last summer, but after admitting his love for the club, he’s now a permanent part of the furniture, becoming their second transfer of the current window.

However, he initially arrived at Villa Park last term as someone who had failed to live up to the hype. He scored four goals for Lille in 2017/18, but ultimately he was still branded disappointing and frustrating.

That so-called hype stemmed from the fact he was once a part of Ajax’s wonderful academy.

We got a glimpse of the calibre of players they produce during their recent run to the Champions League semi-final. Chief amongst them were Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Donny van de Beek.

El Ghazi is older than de Jong and de Ligt but, when he broke through in Amsterdam, he attracted a level hype that isn’t too far away from what the aforementioned pairing have made in the past twelve months.

This was a player who had scored seven in 11 U19 Eredivisie matches and would then go onto shine at senior level for the Dutch giants.

For Ajax, he was a rising star, netting 20 goals and claiming ten assists across the course of two seasons in 2014/15 and 2015/16.

It was a period of his career in which he scored against Barcelona in Europe at the Nou Camp and a time when he was linked with a move to Liverpool and Manchester United no less.

So as Aston Villa gear up for a return to the Premier League with El Ghazi in the palm of their hands, it could have been a completely different story.

When he was still a teenager, he was one of the best up and coming players at Ajax. You only need to look at the stats for proof of that.

But focusing on what could have been will be pointless for El Ghazi.

His Premier League chance could have come in 2016 but instead it’ll fall for him in 2019. Arguably, he has never been more ready.

Last term, he scored six goals and picked up six assists for his troubles. The numbers are hardly outstanding, especially when you consider some of Villa’s prior transfer targets in Harry Wilson and Said Benrahma reached 16 and ten goals respectively.

But that being said, El Ghazi has the know-how and experience to perform at the top level.

He is a player who thrives on pressure situations and on the big stages.  The fact he’s scored at Wembley and at the Nou Camp tells you all you need to know.

And with that in mind, the top-flight could be the perfect opportunity for him.

He now has the chance to prove exactly why he was being touted with moves to some of England’s elite clubs in 2015.

At Lille and in the Championship he’s had a period away from the limelight. He’s taken a back seat and unlike players who end up dwindling away in the lower leagues after a promising start to their career, he is back in the big time.

Potential concerns surrounding his consistency, however, need to be swatted away.

Similarly technically gifted players like Helder Costa and Anthony Knockaert tore the Championship apart but have since faded into mediocrity.

Costa scored 15 in the second tier but only has one goal in the Premier League. The latter, meanwhile, has just five after netting 33 for Brighton in the level below.

They are prime examples of players who simply aren’t cut out for that level.

But the difference with El Ghazi is that he is cut out for it. He’s performed at a high level before.

Villa have given him an overriding sense of confidence, and after regaining his purpose with the club, he now has the perfect platform to demonstrate why Liverpool and Man United were once chasing him.

In the Premier League, he has the potential to be their difference-maker.

يذكر، أن اللجنة الثلاثية قد عينت بقرار من الفيفا بعد إقالة اللجنة الخماسية برئاسة عمرو الجنايني.
